Gardening Heroes

I have several Gardening Heros. Some got me interested in Gardening like Paul James, and others continue to teach me through their books like Ed Smith, Mel Bartholomew, & Eliott Coleman.

Dick Raymond is one of these gardening heros. Dick wrote an excellent gardening book many years ago called ” Joy of Gardening” in 1982, and at one time had a TV Series. I believe you can still find his book on Amazon, even though it was published quite a while ago. I have a copy and would never part with it.

While he does say some things in his book I don’t completely agree with, it was thirty years ago, and we have all learned a lot since then.

I found this video of Dick in his garden on Youtube, shot in 2011 and really wanted to share with everyone the real deal with having a “Green Thumb”. Be sure to watch for his sweet corn patch!

If I can one day be half the gardener Disk is, I will feel honored.

Take a look and let me know what you think.
